Teleradiography
Lateral head projection (teleradiography)

At the medical center "Estetik Dental", various diagnostic methods are available, including modern teleradiography with a high level of resolution and the ability to examine even complex and hard-to-reach areas.

Teleradiography, or a lateral head projection, is performed using modern radiographic equipment, which makes it possible to determine not only the anatomical features of individual elements but also functional capabilities. Experienced specialists perform X-ray diagnostics in various situations for diagnostic purposes or to monitor the progress of the treatment process.

When teleradiography is needed:

• For complex malocclusion pathologies

• To establish or clarify the diagnosis for malocclusion

• When there is pain in the jaw joint area

• For neoplasms and tumors in the jaw joint area

• To clarify the diagnosis in inflammatory processes

• For structural abnormalities of the teeth and jaw

• If trauma to the dentoalveolar system is suspected

• Before surgery

A teleradiograph is one of the mandatory diagnostic methods before orthodontic treatment.

With this radiographic examination, the specialist clarifies the features of the bite and determines the presence or absence of changes in dentofacial anatomy.

In dentistry, the lateral teleradiograph is most commonly used; in cases of malocclusion it makes it possible to thoroughly study the angle of rotation around the axis or tooth inclination, and patterns of displacement relative to the main reference lines.

Diagnostic stages

  1. First, the doctor performs an examination with an oral inspection. This is necessary to determine the severity of changes and the need for correction. Also at this stage, women are asked about pregnancy, as this condition is the only contraindication for teleradiography.
  2. Teleradiography is performed using special medical equipment located in a separate room. To protect other areas of the body from radiation exposure, the patient is offered to wear a special protective vest.
  3. The head is fixed in a special position, and then the examination is performed, in which the person takes minimal part. The information from the device is transmitted to a computer, which processes the received data.
  4. The stage during which the image is processed, displayed on the monitor, and then analyzed by specialists. The doctor can zoom in and out to clarify details. The image can be saved in special digital formats for later use in treatment monitoring.
